So I thought that I would give out a list of recommended reading. Most of these books are fairly old and I read them quite a while ago but they are super good.
Bitter is the New Black, Jen Lancaster- I found this book sort of by accident. I was looking for something else, saw the title, and knew that I had to have this book. It's a memoir about Jen who was fairly wealthy, had a great job and then lost it all when she lost her job, then her husband lost his job. It sounds a little sad but it is actually one of the funniest books that I have ever read. If I knew her we would so be best friends because we are EXACTLY the same. She is hilarious and has a way with words.
Marley and Me, J. Grogan- Oh my hell. This book is so sweet. It's about a man and his less than perfect dog, Marley. I'll admit that I have a soft spot for animals, but seriously I sobbed when I read this book. It is so good and this poor dog is so dumb sometimes but, oh, I love it and if you don't then you probably don't have a heart.
A Million Little Pieces, James Frey- I know there is a lot of controversy over this book but Oprah be damned! It is still a good book. It's a pretty intense story about a man that goes to rehab and all the demons he has to battle along the way. They tell him that if he ever drinks again that he will probably die, and that is all that that he wants to do everyday. It's really interesting to read about the things he went through and the problems that still torture him to this day. And yes, there is quite a bit of swearing but really, get over it, it's a good book.
My Friend Leonard, James Frey- This is the follow-up to A Million Little Pieces. It picks up pretty much where the other one left off and it is slightly less depressing. It's about James and his friendship with Leonard (who he met in rehab). Leonard helps James get back on his feet and James give Leonard what he wants, a friend, and a "son". It is definetely less intense than the other book but still pretty dark. It's good stuff though I promise.
That's really all I can think of for right now.
P.S.- I have not read the vampire books that everyone in the world is so into. I also have no plans to do so. I'm not sure if that's because I'm not interested in them, or if I am more interested in making a point out of not reading them.
