We had to be there super early in the morning. Woke up before 5, got there by 6, rode Trax to the starting line and started running at 730.
Celina and her gear bag
That's me!
My favorite 5k participant
So we ran, really fast actually. You'll be happy to know that I blew my previous 5k time out of the water with a spectacular finish time of 28:37! (Not technically spectacular, but it was for me) I was pretty psyched. Celina finished in 27:57 and by the look on her face was quite surprised to see me so soon after her (it's okay boo, I understand, I am usually real slow). So this 5k has gotten me really excited about the Ogden one and Celina and I are going to try for a 10k in July (that's 6.2 miles) and our next goal after that would be to do the half marathon next year in Salt Lake. We have a whole year to train so that's the goal, I'll keep you updated on that quest...
Anyway, Mace ran the marathon and Jessica came down to watch him and we stayed to watch him and shop. Jessica was supposed to buy him some grape Pedialyte but didn't so we had to trek from the Gateway to State Street to meet my friend who brought us some.
We made it back to the Gateway and found a place to stand so that we could take pictures of Mace coming into the finish line. We got there pretty early and we were under one of the bridges. Listen- we nearly froze to death. I'm not even kidding. It was SO cold in the shade and the wind kept blowing. Thought I was going to die.
Finally mace came through the Gateway to the finish line at about 4 hours, 14 minutes:
That's him behind the other guy
This is Mace right before he came over and gave Jessica a kiss before he crossed the finish line. QUIT IT! It was the cutest thing ever! So sweet. Glad I could be a part of it. Celina had gone down to the corner to inform us of when he was coming so we could get pictures and it's a good thing she wasn't there because she would have cried, she was already getting misty when others came through the finish line.
All in all it was a pretty good time and a pretty fun experience, perhaps one day I'll run an actual marathon. Probably not though, the thought of running that far makes me tired. We'll see I guess...
Sweet little things

Nice job on the marathon chippy!!! I pretty much can't even run from my front door to my car... Jessica told me about him coming over and kissing her before he finished... they are so cute I could slap them both !
