There was a show on TV on Friday night called Dogtown. This particular episode was about 4 of the pitbulls that had been rescued from the hideous abuse at Michael Vick's house where they had been in numerous dog fights and been treated horribly. It seriously makes me so sick to know that there are people out there in the world that do these awful things. To think that it is cool or exciting to watch animals try to kill each other is disturbing and then when the animal didn't perform to murder it is even more disgusting.
So these 4 pitbulls that were being rehabbed should be hateful and mean because of what they had been through. But they weren't. They were so sweet and they were so lovey to these people that had taken them in. That's resiliance. There is no way that I could be tortured by a person and still want to be loved by someone who looked like them.
This Dogtown place is in Kanab and I looked up their website. Bad idea. There are about 100 cats on there that are looking to be adopted that I want. Many of them were deemed unadoptable by shelters and they were rescued and brought to this animal sanctuary. It's a no-kill shelter and they rehab the animals so that they can be adopted out. HOW AWESOME OF THEM! I think that it's great. I'm so glad that even with the uglyness that there is also something to counteract it and brighten the world a little.
Celina and I are considering moving to Kanab so that we can work with these animals. It would be a totally fulfilling job and I think I would love it.
